Day 26 – Seams

My son asked me to make thumb holes in his shirt- oh what mother’s do for love. Turned the experience to poetry.

Ripping at seams
Taking apart the pieces that hold us together
Making the most of what we have
Wanting to sew it all back
To what was once normal

But now a normal is sitting here
With needle and thread
Staring at the material
Conjuring up a creativity left dormant

A time never visited
A thread of semblance that leaves me exhausted
A material end that is unfamiliar and so unfair. …

Day 25- Soil Dirt

The words “soil dirt” was all that I had as prompts for me back from April.  Haven’t a clue what they were about so now I have to make them work for now…. here it goes.

It sparkles
Covering the cold ground
The soil and dirt long since gone quiet
Blanketed by leaves
Warmed by dead plants
Frost having taken their last breaths
And frozen them in shades of brown and gray
Leaving them sleeping

Day 24 – Next Steps

So I was delayed in my posting from April and now I am trying to catch up and perfect time for NaNoWriMo.  Even though I am not writing a novel, I want to get these last poems out before the end of 2020.  Trying to find inspiration as we head into lockdown again.

So this was maybe a little optimistic, but what the heck!  I was turning the page at that point in time in April about to embark on a new adventure.

Looking to the future
And seeing open fields,
Gorgeous sunshine
Running leaping
Joyous
Now just to take the step!
